Hello! My name is Ms. Smith. I teach 6th grade Language Arts. I have been at Beville for 11 years. I love teaching! This year is my fifth year teaching 6th grade. Previously I taught 8th grade for 10 years and 7th grade for two years. I love reading and writing but writing is my passion. Writing relieves stress and tension. Writing can be fascinating - it allows you to explore a variety of topics. We will read a lot of great stories and explore a plethora of characters.
In my class you will become avid writers and enthusiastic readers. Reading opens up a whole new world for you. This year I want every student to read at least 30 books by June. You can find reading in small increments is just as important as reading for hours at a time. My hope is that you love to read and write by the time you move onto 7th grade. Writing is something that once started, is hard to stop. So begin by writing a little each week at home. We will keep a journal in class that will contain all of our writings, grammar notes, and various reading notes and assignments.
My belief is that every student can learn as long as they are willing to learn. As your teacher I can take you only as far as you are willing to go. I want you to enjoy Language Arts and have fun! I'd be happy to talk to you about any issues or concerns you may have about my class. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm hopeful that you will have a successful year.
