Welcome to Mrs Bush's page!

Virtual Learning Resources are linked above!

Math Scholars,

  1.  Please see the Virtual Learning Folder  for this week’s math lesson. Everything you need to complete the IXL assignments can be found in the folder. Please be sure to log in to IXL with your personal username and password before you begin, otherwise it will not save your progress.

  2. Tuesday’s Zoom Meeting will begin at 9:30am – ID and Password found in your email. The purpose of the zoom meeting on Tuesday is to go over example problems and answer questions.

  3. Please look over the attachment and watch the videos BEFORE the zoom meeting.  You may even begin the IXL assignments.

  4. You may print the attachment if you like, but you may also use loose leaf to work out the problems.

  5. All work is optional, but greatly encouraged.  There is no need to email me any assignments as I already have access to your IXL scores.

  6. Thursday, I will hold office hours on Zoom from noon to 12:30pm.  I will be readily available via email until 1:30pm.   Again, the purpose of office hours is to answer questions about the week’s IXL assignments.  If you do not have a question, there is no need to tune in to the zoom meeting.

April 14, 2020

Good Morning Students.  Today's Zoom Mtg will begin at 9:30 am!  The Zoom ID and Password can be found in your school email.  Before the meeting, please look over the materials for today.  They can be found in the document container above.  Open the "Virtual Learning" folder and choose today's date.

See you soon!

As of April 13, 2020:
Each Monday you should expect an email from me overviewing the week’s instruction and topic.

Every Tuesday from 9:00am – 10:30am will be our Math Instructional Time.

  • This will include:
    • Zoom Meeting starting at 9:30am on Zoom (link sent through email)
    • Practice Problems
    • IXL Practice
    • And more

Every Thursday from 12:00pm – 1:30pm will be my Math Office Hours.

  • This means I will be available on Zoom (same link as Instructional Time) to review worksheet/activity answers, chat and answer any questions about Tuesday’s mini lesson and work that you may have.

At this time, there is no new learning and no new grades for the 3rd grading period.  If you would like to bring your grade up, you make improve any scores on IXL. Below are all of the ones I have graded for Quarter Three.  If you improve any of these, let me know ASAP and I will be happy to update them! If you do not email me that you have worked on these, I will not know to change your grade.

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 7th Grade Math!!  My name is Mrs. Bush and I will be teaching your child this year.  We are going to have a wonderful time together!  I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. I recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. I know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that I will do my very best to carry out my responsibilities.

This year we will do all of our daily work in an INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK. This Notebook should be....

1)    1)  Five Star - 11in x 8 ½ in  -  (This is bigger than a normal notebook)

2)  2)   Five Subjects (we will use ALL 5 subjects!)

3)   3)  College Ruled

We will have a lot of fun discovering and learning many new things together and I believe it is very important to communicate between home and school and will do my best to keep you informed.   Should you have any questions, comments or concerns at anytime throughout the year, please contact me at the school at (703) 878-2593 or by email  at boncyem@pwcs.edu

Dear Parents and Students,

We will begin Unit 2 - Number Sense on Wednesday, October 11th.  In this unit, students continue expanding their knowledge of comparing fractions, decimals, and percents to include scientific notation with both positive and negative exponents. Students also extend their study of perfect squares to include square roots and absolute value to include all rational numbers. This unit also addresses properties of arithmetic. They then review properties learned in previous grades and are formally introduced to the additive inverse property now that they have studied integer operations. Finally, students will solve practical problems involving rational numbers.

Unit Two - Number Sense - Virginia Standards of Learning

7.16
apply the following properties of operations with real numbers:
a. the commutative and associative properties for addition and multiplication;
b. the distributive property;
c. the additive and multiplicative identity properties;
d. the additive and multiplicative inverse properties; and
e. the multiplicative property of zero.

7.1
a. investigate and describe the concept of negative exponents for powers of ten;
b. determine scientific notation for numbers greater than zero;*
c. compare and order fractions, decimals, percents and numbers written in scientific notation;*
d. determine square roots;* and
e. identify and describe absolute value for rational numbers.
 *SOL test items measuring Objective 7.1b-d will be completed without the use of a calculator.
