This week, I would like you to look at Canavas and find the discussion on Memories. Also, go to Clever, and then open MyOn. You can see the project I created, or simply read the book "You Can Write an Amazing Journal." The reading is not very long. It might inspire you to begin writing!

Check you email (today) for information about a virtual meeting.

Take care!

I hope you all had a great Mothers' Day!  I think it will get warmer soon ...this week, I would like you to continue thinking about family stories. Look in Canvas and My On. There will be a Flip Grid code in Teams.

The Powerpoint is in files here.

Let me know if you have any questions. Stay warm!

May 4, 2020

This week, you will again find a PowerPoint that describes our work for the week. I would like you to think about and read about stories that families tell.

There is one link to the story "Growing Together," If the link does not work for you, try searching for "Growing Together" by Carmen Agra Deedy. It is a nice story.

This week, I want you to try to get to Canvas through Office 365 -- it is another app. It seems easy to use.

Let me know how it goes.

You also have a reading in Newsela.  Have a great week!

April 22, 2020 Wednesday

Dear Parents and Students,
I hope you are doing well. Quarter 3 ends this Friday, April 24th. Check your grades for NHI's and try to complete them.

It has been great to "see" some of you in our virutal Teams meetings.

At the end of each week, I will post the work (tasks, assignments, readings) in the files here, and in Teams. These will be posted before our instructional time on Monday, so that you could begin to work on them Monday morning. If you have questions on Monday morning, you could email me or write a message in Teams.

Nex Wednesday, I would like to have a short virtual meeting. I will email you how to join the meeting.

Check in Teams for a Flipgrid code. Please continue to use Lexia and Kids A - Z. And, check out the articles in Newsela through Clever. You can get to Clever from Office 365.

Hi Students and Parents!
Please check out instructional schedule, which I put in my files. It is the same for all grades.

Information to read is in my files here (and in Teams). The readings, this week, are the same for 7th and 8th grade.

1. "First Aid for Feeling" (English and Spanish version.) The pictures are a little funny, but the information is good. You could read it, and where you have to answer, write it in a notebook. We will share that next week. Just read a page or two.

2. One Brainpop -- I will assign it in Teams (it is in the folder "BrainPOP" here also)

3. Get into Clever and then find Newsela -- I have added a few article for you. Choose one -- start with the article about the sea animal manatees.

7th graders -- we will meet again in Teams at 9:15 next Monday, April 20th.
8th graders -- we will meet in Teams at 10:00 next Monday, April 20th.

Take care,

Ms. Klimas

One additional web app is: Newsela. You can get to it through Clever. Check out the reading about polar bears! (non-fiction.) This is optional.

March 24, 2020 Update

Dear Students and Parents,

The objectives that were taught by March 12th are in the Files and Documents Section.  One for 7th grade, and one document for 8th grade.

To review these objectives, students may go to IXL.
Choose your grade level, and look at these sections:
Reading Strategies: A, D, F and G
Vocabulary: P, R, V and X

You may also continue to use Lexia online.

In addition, Kids A-Z has a lot of resources for reading and review.

Students, when you login to Kids A-Z, click on "Reading Room," and then check out the Pack/Passages. Also, check the "Learn Englsh" section and find Comics and Grammar.
This is review, and work now is optional.

Take care!

Ms. Klimas
