Virginia Growth Assessment Online Test
Virginia Growth Assessment Online TestDear Beville Families,

This fall, the Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) in Reading and Mathematics will be administered to all students in grades 3-8 in Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS). We want to take this opportunity to provide you with some information about these tests and why it is administered.
The VGAs were created to help measure growth in reading and math for students in grades 3-8. Although these tests will measure the same content as the Standards of Learning (SOL) reading and math tests given in the spring, they will not be used to assign a passing or failing score to a student. Rather, they will be used to baseline a student’s proficiency in reading and math and then track their progress during the course of the school year.
The VGAs have fewer items than the SOLs and will be completed on the student’s school-issued device. Also, there are no VGAs for high school credit courses, like Algebra or Geometry for example. See the dates listed below to determine what days your child will be taking the VGA. After all testing is complete, parents will receive a report of their student’s performance. Students will receive their score reports on October 8 to bring home and share with you.

If you have any questions about the VGAs, please direct your questions to Jill Cowsert, Beville’s Admin Intern, by email at cowserjj@pwcs.edu
